The Amazing Tyler Man

I took Sammie and Tyler to the magic house recently.  Our pediatric dentist rents it out once a year for his patients and they had face painting this year.

Tyler saved his money for that slap watch.  He was excited to go shopping with dad to buy it.

Tyler and I have had a fun summer so far.  Each day we make a list of everything he wants/needs to get done.  He has really enjoyed the structure that provides.  He helps around the house, works on his school workbooks so he doesn’t fall behind, reads, and makes sure he’s active every day.  It’s a joy to see him thrive on being with me one on one.

Photography Class: Spencer

Spencer and Sammie took a photography class together over summer school.  Next year they will be at the same school for the first time ever and this class over summer was the first class they had ever taken together.  They were super excited.  We thought Spencer might get over his anxiety about getting his picture taken if he had some control over the camera.  Not sure if that’s really true, but it was an attempt anyway!

Here’s some of the pictures he took.  I’ll post Sammie’s another time.

I like how the leaves are at the top of this one.

I think he did a pretty good job!  This was just a sample.  They took SO many pictures in this class.

Sammie’s Paintings

Sammie has become a little painter lately.  Grandpa Atkins took her aside for something fun to do and came up with this at the end their time in the art studio:

Here’s a close up:

We were all really impressed and now that painting is framed and on the wall in our living room.  Sammie liked picking out the frame at Michaels.  We had it professionally done to make it extra special.

Then when we got back to town I called up her Uncle Brian who lives here in STL and he was willing to continue some art lessons for her.  Here’s what they have been working on for a few weeks.  It’s going to be a birthday present for my dad.  I’m kind of sad to see it go though.

She wants to redo the signing, but I like it.  It reminds me that she’s 11.

We are so proud of her and we feel so blessed to have such talented family who can guide her as she discovers her art.  Thanks grandpa and Brian!

Here she is with the teachers.
