update

A few things to update-

1- Spencer is surviving his many tests. So far just blood draws and an EEG (which is a huge deal that I had no idea how huge it was- he's such a trooper). Up to come is the MRI and Ultrasound of his heart.

2- Tyler is doing great at school. He's already met 2 of his IEP goals and it's only been a month! What a kid. We've been able to decrease his minutes of language therapy from 90 minutes a week to 60 minutes a week. He's doing great with going to two schools as well. He loves his "school bus school" and his "Good Shepherd" school.

3- Sammie is enjoying playing the string bass. She got a 100% on her math test last week! She was so proud I thought she would ask us to frame it! :)

hmm... what else... oh

We have begun the halloween costume hunt/decision making process. Tyler and Spencer are decided, but Sammie as usual is having a hard time figuring out what she wants to be. She thinks she will be an ice cream cone, but Mary Poppins, a coconut and a monkey are still contenders... not sure about that coconut. How will people know she isn't a rock with hair?

Tyler's going to be a motorcycle guy and Spencer will either be Sponge Bob for the 4th year in a row or a karate kid. He can choose the day of if he wants since he owns both! Thomas and I will go as ourselves again this year- boring I know.

I guess that's it for now. We appreciate all of your prayers and thoughts. We are doing fine, stressed at times, tired most of the time, but overall feeling good and look forward to getting some answers about Spencer.

Spencer Update

Just a quick update about Spencer.

He went to a specialist team at the Knights of Columbus Development Center yesterday and they recommended a bunch of tests- including an echocardiogram, MRI and EEG among others. After these tests the team of specialists will look at the whole picture- developmental, intellectual, physical, psychological, social- and determine the course of treatment for his developmental and physical needs.

He did a great job at the appointment and I was blessed to have my good friend Nicole with me to help sort out some of the medical things.

Picture catch up

Here are a few good ones that were lurking on Sammie’s camera.  I took her camera with me to Anna’s so I just got them off when I was looking for the pictures of Anna and the baby.   Most of them are Tyler.  He is Sammie’s favorite subject.  (other than Gizmo) Enjoy!

One day every time I saw Tyler he was posing with this silly frog on his head.  I wouldn’t let him walk around with it.  I can just see him falling down the stairs!

Trying to get my attention again while I’m reading.  This happens very frequently by late afternoon.  That’s my mommy time out time!

Ha ha!  It’s me!

Labor Day Weekend Trip

I went to see Anna and Lexi over the weekend.  Very cute baby!  It was relaxing and fun to hang out with such an old friend.  We’ve made plans to see each other more.  I hadn’t been to see her for 7 years and she’s never been to my house so we have made a pack to change that!

The weekend went by so fast.

Here’s baby Alexis: Born August 6, 2010

This last one was how she was a lot of the time.  Poor little girl had a tummy ache that would not go away!  I am one of those people who think babies look almost as cute when they are crying as when they are smiling so I snapped this picture.  She’s also showing off the outfit that my mom got her in this one.

Sammie’s new clothes

Sammie is the beneficiary of my new found hobby- inspired by Marisa at New Dress A Day

Here are my after pictures… I didn’t think to take before pictures.  I’ll do more of that another time I guess!

100_2836

A little blue shirt that did NOTHING for certain parts of my anatomy and I got it for free from a friend.  It’s hard to see the sleeves, but Sammie’s favorite part is the ruffles on the sleeves.  It’s a sweater so I cut the sleeves and re attached them higher so it fit her better.  I added a belt loop on either side with the same ribbon and tied the bow.

100_2819

This was my dress I wore in my skinnier days.  It was pretty tight on me even then through the top and so I was going to donate it anyway.  I had to do the same sleeve trick and then used the leftover material from the bottom of the overlay to cover up my botchy hand stitching.  Those sleeves are not going anywhere that is for sure!

100_2821

Full length with some attitude and white socks.  This one had two sets of ribbon on each side that I use to tie into bows and I just untied them and tied them around her waist instead.

Kind of a dopey face here, but this one is actually her favorite.  Got it at a yard sale thought it looked bigger on the wrack that it really was.  Same trick with the sleeves, didn’t have to hem it at all- it actually hits me about the same place- scary that.

The back- I cut out the ribbons to hang it up easier and sewed them into the back of the dress to tie it up tighter on her tiny waist.

We Match! Sammie insisted on this photo.  :)

100_2832

This one only needed the strap trick and a belt that Sammie already had that I just took the Hannah Montano logo stars off of.   Kind of a side note, but doesn’t her scar look great??

100_2835

This one looks cuter on that this picture shows.  She’s kind of standing at a weird angle.  I think we need some chunky silver sparkly jewelry.  Maybe we can treat her to a stop at Claire’s since she got all of these clothes for free!

Just because he’s cute.

March 2007  She loved that dress.  Still refuses to give it away!  It was her “mushroom” dress because when she sat down it poofed up like a mushroom.
