Hail Storm 2012

We got hit pretty hard with the hail storm that came through St. Louis at the end of April.  Both of our cars are totaled and we had some significant damage to our roof, gutters, siding, and other property around the house.

Here’s some of the pictures we took that night.  I’ve never seen hail that big.  The kids still have some in the freezer.  Not sure what they plan to do with it.

We are still making decisions about the cars, but we’ve hired a company to oversee the house repairs and that’s coming along nicely.  We just got a new roof and gutters last year from the tornado!  All well.

The many faces of Tyler

I was looking through pictures on Thomas’ iPhone and thought this bunch was pretty funny.  What a ham.  It’d make a great flip book!

I think they were probably waiting for something fun to happen.  I think it’s a great way to pass the time.

Spencer’s Special Olympics

In April Spencer participated in a Special Olympics track event at the high school.  They have high school students as assistants for the kids with disability.  They did it inside the gym because it was storming that day.  I was on a field trip with Tyler so Thomas went over and caught a few of his events on his lunch hour.  It looks like he had a great time!  He was on one of his “up swings” as we like to call them- walking on his own, eating, and being more animated.  Just in time to get some ribbons at Special Olympics!  (literally the week before this he was in his wheel chair almost all week)  He’s number 3561 toward the right of the picture.

They all take this very seriously.

Catch up

I thought I’d do a catch up post of some things that have been going on in our family recently.

Sammie designed and decorated these desserts for a friend’s baby shower.  I thought she did a great job.

P1020410

Dad joined me and the kids on a weekend trip to Kansas City to go through the new LDS temple there.  They held an open house to the public.  It is so beautiful.  Spencer came too, but was camera shy.

We had to say goodbye to these cute kids the day we headed out to Kansas City.  So sad to see the Gase family move to Dallas.  We will miss them so much!

P1020412

I snapped this from inside the house- through a window.  I wanted to document Spencer outside on the trampoline.  He has not had energy for much jumping or playing of any kind until pretty recently.  Here are a few more:

Wacky Tacky Day

P1020403

The kids got to dress up like crazy people for wacky tacky day earlier this month.  They send in a $1 for charity and get to dress funny.  Tyler chickened out on the swimsuit over his pants, but still looked pretty wacky.  P1020404

Tyler thought of wearing one church shoe and one tennis shoe.  Very creative!

Easter 2012

Ella liked Sammie rubbing her nose.

I think Tyler knew that Parker was about to get into trouble for standing on the chair.

He was trying to hug Parker, but Parker just wanted to run.  Either that or he was tired of Tyler trying to strangle him.

P1020386

Besides Spencer’s deer in the headlights look (right before he started sobbing that he didn’t want his picture taken anymore) I think this picture is pretty good.  Too bad we can’t see Ella’s face.

The baskets.

P1020393

Tyler was excited about his $1 bill.  Almost as excited for that as the chocolate bunny!

P1020395

Other than we all look angry because we were facing the sun- this is a pretty good one by our standards.  No one is running away screaming anyway.

P1020397

We had an egg hunt both days, but I only got pictures of the Atkins one.  I was busy helping Spencer with the Burnett hunt.  Thomas got quite a few pictures with his iphone so I’ll put those on the blog when we get them downloaded.

The cool kids.
