National Chocolate Chip Day and so on...

I like to look at the weirdo "days" that someone somewhere deemed important enough to have a day dedicated to them. I recently found this website that talks about all of these special days. For example, Did you know that earlier this week on the 16th we should have celebrated National Chocolate Chip Day? I feel like I missed out! Any excuse to make chocolate chip cookies will work for me!

Today is "No Dirty Dishes Day"- does that mean we have to catch up on our dishes or that we don't have to do dishes? I guess it's open to interpretation.

For your information, it's also "Date your Mate" month so take your sweetie out for a date before the month is over!

Some to look forward to next month include:

June 1st- Flip a coin day
2nd- National Rocky Road Day
4th- Hug your cat day
6th- National Gardening day or Yo Yo day- you can pick I guess.
7th- National Chocolate Ice Cream Day- YEAH!
9th- Donald Duck Day
12th- Red Rose Day
18th National Splurge Day!
and my favorite so far-
on the 19th is National Hollerin' Contest Day (always the 3rd Saturday in June by the way) Holler at your kids as much as you want that day I guess... or try to track down a pig caller.

Sammie

Sammie had to go to the ER tonight in the ambulance to get stitches. She was leaving our
bedroom and tripped and fell and hit her head at the corner of the hallway (right by where
our front hall closet is) and broke open her head all the way to her skull. A plastic surgeon
sewed her up it was through 3 layers of skin and he estimated about 150-180 total. She
can go to school tomorrow, but we are going to let her sleep until she wakes up and then
take her in. She needs to go back to see the surgeon late next week. He said she will have
a scar.

Spencer was in the tub and missed everything. Tyler saw most of it and was pretty upset, but my friend Marjean and my friend and visiting teacher Jessica were here to help him calm down. I was out with Marjean on the way to the church to set up a few things for the service project tonight when it happened. We turned around and came right to the house and the ambulance was just getting ready to leave. Uncle Brian came over to tuck Tyler into bed and comfort him some more. She is fine, but shaken and like a true 3rd grader excited to show off her head to her friends at school!

A conversation with Tyler about a bird.

We were walking Gizmo and saw a bird with a dead worm hanging out of his mouth. We both agreed that that was pretty gross. I said "Aren't you glad you are not a bird? I wouldn't want to have to eat worms." Tyler said " If I was a bird I wouldn't mind eating worms and I'd get to fly!"

There's a lesson here somewhere... look at the positive? Think about what is important? Be content with your lot? or maybe if you have to eat a worm you might as well enjoy it? Either way it was one of the many times my children have taught me something. Now maybe I can use this against him the next time he doesn't want to eat his dinner.

A Story by Sammie Atkins

Sammie got 4 A's and 1 B on her report card! Yeah! She got an A in Reading, Writing, Math, and Science and a B in Social Studies. We are so proud of her. Here's a story she wrote. I think her writing is very clever! She likes to write about her health issues in an informative and funny way.

My Allergies

My allergies are very severe. If you know what I mean. I'm allergic to peanuts, eggs and fur so I can't have cookies, pets, or peanut butter and I also can't have a CHOCOLATE! Also, I can't eat or touch peanuts, but if I do then I can't BREATHE!!!!! Is that crazy or what? OK, I know it's crazy. But there's more... If I eat peanuts I have to get a shot in the meaty part of my thigh and I have to ride in the ambulance and I have to go to the HOSPITAL!!! Also I have to go to the emergency room!!! (She has a little drawing of a bunny who says "Are you kidding me?" then on of her saying "Nope". Well, you'll find out more in the next chapter because I'm going to explode (which will not be pretty) Have fun reading chapter 2!

My Eczema

Hi, My name is Samantha Jane Atkins and I have had eczema for 8 years now. It was just going away and then the bad eczema seasion came and now... IT'S BACK! Bunny: "Sorry about that" "Wow, that's bad." Sammie: "It's not your fault" Anyways, do you want to know how I deal with that? Bunny: "Yeah, of course!" OK, you silly smiley face! Ok, so here's how I deal with it. I have to take a pill to help with my eczema and allergies. Also, if you don't' have eczema you are really lucky.

My Family

Hi, My name is Samantha Jane Atkins and I have 4 relatives in my house not including me and they are Dereth, Thomas, Spencer, and Tyler. My brothers are 10 and 3 years old! Bunny: "WOW! The first one's old" Yeah, **Smiles** I also bet you can't guess how many toys me and my brothers have altogether. Bunny: "Well, I think you have 50 all together" WRONG! Bunny: "wow this is hard". Yes, it is. :) "OK I GIVE UP" We have 95 toys all together! Is that crazy or what? OK, I know it's crazy. But that's enough for now because you will find out more in book two!! Bunny: "I can't wait, Am I in it?" Of course you are! You are always in my story! :) Bunny: "Oh, yeah, I'm crazy" Tell me about it.

There are more, but these are the first few. Maybe I'll post the rest another time. enjoy!
