Valentines Day Dinner

Just chili and grilled cheese- oh, wait, the dog jumped on the table and ate the grilled cheese before we ate dinner… so just chili and sparkling cider by candle light.  Tyler and I made the candle holders.  Didn’t quite turn out like I hoped, but the kids still had fun.

The 4th grade concert

A few posts ago I had pictures of steak n shake and I thought- huh, why did I take pictures of that and don’t have any of the actual concert?  Well, they downloaded somewhere funky that’s why.  Anyway, here are a few of the concert.  She looks beautiful as usual.

That’s Sammie standing the closest to the camera at the back.  There were 300 kids there!  (and that was only 1/2 of the 4th graders in the district)

A great way to recycle your grocery bags

My friend Ashley came to our church women’s meeting to show us how to crochet plastic walmart type bags for mats for the homeless who live at “Tent City”- a community of people who live in tents.

It’s a pretty cool process and if you already know how to crochet it is much easier to do.  I cut strips for those ready to crochet and left it at that.  I figure the way to learn how to crochet probably isn’t with plastic.

Tyler’s class “Funky Dance Party”

Every 6 weeks or so I’m the parent helper at Tyler’s preschool.  It’s a co-op school so it keeps the cost down and it’s ideal for me because I like to be involved with the schools.  Every other Monday they have the music leader from church come and do a music time.  Well, this day Ms. Shirley was sick so one of the girls in the class suggested a Funky Dance Party instead.  This is what happened.  Pretty darn cute.

A Concert and Steak N Shake

Sammie had an orchestra concert and we celebrated a job well done at Steak N Shake afterwards.  This was way back in January I think…  Gotta love the cool cars the kids can build.

Great- Grandpa Atkins by Sammie Atkins

I was snooping through Sammie's writing notebook when I went in for her teacher conference on Monday and this is one of the gem's I found. I made her copy it out and bring it home so I could post it!

You are amazing Sammie! I'm so happy to be your mom!

Great Grandpa Atkins

I never really thought about him until we were invited to this music concert that my mom's friend invited us to. When we got our seat I just kept looking at this one empty chair and I started looking back to all of my memories with him. Like seeing his flag flapping in the wind, him holding me on his lap when I was four years old (I'm surprised I remember that) seeing his taped anniversary and feeling his hand on my shoulder. When I turned around he wasn't there, but I could feel his hand on my shoulder. Like I feel it right now.
