It’s a marvel to me that they can do stuff like this. It looks like it was never broken at all let alone twice!

Carousel at Faust Park and the chicken hat
We visited the carousel at Faust Park in Chesterfield with Dad and also went to a few yard sales. This was by far the best find.
He’s been wearing it almost all day.

Spencer the barber
Spencer loves to comb dad’s hair. It is the funniest thing! He’s been so animated this morning. We are just soaking it all up! Just seeing the unprompted movement like this is amazing for us. Also, the fact that he can stand on his own for this length of time is pretty great!
He just loves his grandpa!
Sammie and Spencer
I’ve said it before, but it is so true- Sammie is the best sister! She is so patient and good with Spencer and Tyler, but especially Spencer. (Tyler has the ability to annoy her into oblivion!)
She created this sticker book for his new stickers- also from Tyler last night. I asked Spencer if I could please take his picture with his sister- and he said “well, OK” and these are the gems I got. It would have been too perfect to have Tyler down here as well, but I’ll take what I can get. Tyler is upstairs playing Legos with Grandpa.
This one above was when I asked him to give Sammie a hug.
It’s rare I get a picture with his eyes forward! This obviously says- OK, ENOUGH!
Sammie’s Tooth Drama
A few years ago Sammie fractured her front tooth while playing on the swing set outside. It broke clean in half and caused her a lot of pain and an emergency trip to the dentist! They were able to re attach the tooth no problem and with time you could only see a small line if you got very up close and personal with her teeth. Well, while Spencer and I were in the hospital over the weekend the Sammie’s tooth broke off again! Luckily, she didn’t have any discomfort as long as she wore her retainer that fits over her teeth to keep the air out and it didn’t effect her eating. She’s going today to get it fixed so we thought we’d post a before and after picture.
Here’s the before:
Spencer news and a big birthday!
Spencer has been having some health issues over the last few years- resulting in some major ups and downs with his weight. Mid February he was admitted to the hospital for a NG Tube- a feeding tube that goes down your nose into your tummy and you get fed a nutrition formula from a pump.
He was in the hospital 4 days and it felt like 40! We were so glad to have him home with us. The tube was pretty uncomfortable, but we wanted to see if it would work before doing the permanent tube- called a G-tube.
After a month it seemed to be helping so we went ahead and did the g-tube surgery on March 16th- his 13th birthday- and also the first day of spring break. He had to have 2 surgeries- one for his ingrown eyelashes and one for the g-tube so we were kind of at the mercy of the doctor’s schedules. Needless to say he was not feeling up to celebrating his big day in the hospital so we waited until he was home and feeling better. Grandpa Burnett came down yesterday so it was the perfect time to have Brian and Laura and Meghan and James over too to celebrate our first teenager!
We had breakfast for dinner- a meal he can eat pretty well right now. It was quite a spread with 2 kinds of pancakes- chocolate cake batter and regular, strawberries, orange slices, hash browns, bacon, ham, and baked oatmeal! Plus this amazing ice cream cake. I don’t know if the best part of this picture is the huge candles or dad’s face, but it was the only picture I could sneak of my camera shy son with his cake so it’s making the blog. Sorry dad!
We asked family and friends who wanted to get Spencer something for his birthday to send money to go toward a kindle fire for him. We have one rule with this Kindle. If the other kids (or adults) want to play with it they have to do it with Spencer. Here’s the result of that last night. So cute.
They were all excited to get it and I think they were playing about their 10th round of angry birds in this picture.
Gifts not seen in a picture include- the movie Ice Age, a HUGE bag of Reese’s peanut butter eggs, chocolate covered peeps, PEZ, and very generous money gifts to go toward the kindle fire.
We love the baby step progress Spencer is having. He likes to sit with me while I blog because he likes to look at all of the pictures. He’s on his 5th chocolate egg! I think he’ll have to stop or get a stomach ache, but it is so good to see him eating.
My Birthday
Earlier this month I celebrated my 34th birthday.
The kids went to the dollar store to buy my gifts and got Spencer that funny hat. Sammie got me those hair clips which I was in desperate need of.
From Tyler- a solar powered lady bug on a plant. “It’s a plant you can’t kill Mom!” He knows me so well. I love looking at my happy dancing bug on the window sill each morning. That hat cracks me up.
They also bought me a ton of the bath and body works new scent- Be Enchanted. I love it. I also got some from Jen so I’m all set until Christmas just like I like it!
We had doughnuts for breakfast and enjoyed the morning together and then Spencer and I hung out on my birthday while the others went to Chicago for Arizona’s baby blessing. We missed them, but it was kind of nice to have a relaxing weekend for my birthday.
